Not Feeling Well?

An IAQ Assessment with an allergen screen is a means to better health if anyone in your family suffers from animal, dust mite or mold allergies. Symptoms such as wheezing, difficulty breathing , shortness of breath, nasal and sinus congestion, burning, watery, or reddened eyes, hacking cough, nose or throat irritation, skin rashes or irritation may be signs of severe problems for people suffering from mold or mildew related illnesses.

Air samples and bulk samples (i.e., carpet/ drywall samples) can help determine if there are elevated allergen levels affecting your indoor air quality.

Determining whether the particles present in any environment could be causing health problems to its occupants is the overall goal of sampling. Sampling can also be used for locating sources of mold growth and facilitate effective remediation.

Even though we are typically surrounded by a wide variety of different mold spores every day, some environments contain more- or more harmful- organisms than are normally present. Sampling provides a scientific way to determine whether or not YOUR environment is a safe one.

An inspection with us entails both a comprehensive visual inspection as well as sampling of suspected problem areas. The findings of this inspection lead us to recommend, and implement, a comprehensive remediation plan. All tests are analyzed by certified labs, and results are confidential.

WeKillMold.Com believes that quality IAQ testing is important. That's why we use Environmental Microbiology Laboratories (EMLab),  one of the most highly accredited* laboratories in the industry.

*The labs we use are accredited through the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) and the American Industrial Hygiene Association’s (AIHA) Environmental Microbiology Laboratory Accreditation Program (EMLAP) as well as the Industrial Hygiene Laboratory Accreditation Program (IHLAP).

MOLD SAMPLING TECHNIQUES

Visual Inspection
The extent of any water damage and mold growth should be visually assessed before a Remediation is embarked upon.Cellulose surfaces should be given careful attention during a visual inspection. Digital cameras and other equipment are used to record data.

Bulk / Surface Sampling

Bulk samples are usually collected from areas of visible mold growth . Surface samples are usually collected by wiping a measured area with a sterile culture swab or by stripping the suspect surface with clear tape. Both are then sent out to certified labs for testing.

Air Sampling

  • Air sampling may be necessary if there is evidence that HVAC  systems may be contaminated to assess the extent of contamination throughout a building.
  • Air sampling may also be helpful if mold growth is suspected (musty odors or plumbing issues) but unconfirmed .
